The Just Gorgeous: Inked image series was something that came to me recently when got a new tattoo.... about the size of a playing card... on my right ankle. With it came a lot of unsolicited opinions... about my age... my design choice... was I going through a midlife crisis? And from talking with some of the other inked ladies, they get these opinions, too. Apparently there are still a number of "rules" attached to sporting ink.... like tattoos should be placed in inconspicuous places where they can be easily covered up. What? I'm sorry... why did I spend good money for a decorative design that I love, just to cover it up? I'm glad the weather has gotten warmer so I can pack my jeans away and show my amazing new artwork off!
The gorgeous Anita and Caitlyn are much more bold than I am... they each commissioned artwork for their chests... a place that, unless you're a nun or in the frozen tundra... isn't covered often. Anita's is a reminder to "Have Faith," while Caitlyn's is without words, instead a bright design. So, this is my tribute to them, and all of the other ladies out there who have a message, a design and/or a memory they have no desire to hide, wherever it might be placed on their bodies.
You can read more about the inspiration for this series of images in the first Just Gorgeous: Inked post found here. The more I mulled over the comments I heard and read, the more I wanted to put a spotlight on the women who have tattoos and are proud to show them off. So I will be posting a few photos of these gorgeous inked ladies each Tuesday... unofficially calling the series of images "Tattoo Tuesdays." It's officially called "Just Gorgeous: Inked," and I'd love for you to share it with others who will appreciate the images... and maybe even with a few who might not. After all, how will stereotypes change unless we poke at some comfort zones?
Be sure to come back next Tuesday for more Just Gorgeous Inked ladies...
