Jessica Guthrie Photography | About
I have loved photography for as long as I can remember. The Christmas I was in third grade, my grandmother gave me a blue Fisher-Price camera (that really worked!) with 110 film and disposable bar flashes that I ripped through in an hour. I still remember my parents arguing about how much they would spend on my film, flashes and prints as I snapped picture after picture of my Cabbage Patch dolls.

So much has changed since that Christmas of 1984… photography has gone digital, I pay for my own prints now, and I am still ripping through hours and hours of shots. But those shots are now of people and places, rather than dolls. I earned a bachelor’s degree in photojournalism from Northern Arizona University, and earned a master’s degree in Strategic Communication and Leadership from the University of West Florida 14 years later. In between those two achievements, I became a newspaper and television journalist, photographer, and scrapbooker, finding ways to best display the photos I took of friends and family, and teaching others to do the same.

I am an artist… with a photojournalist's heart. I enjoy taking shots of what I see that others might not, and reveling in the ones that are true slices of life that tell your story: A loving look between partners… a child showing his mother a bug he found… a woman celebrating who she is… even siblings jostling each other for “their turn.” Of course, posed portraits are important, too, so I will be sure to get plenty of those, reflecting your style and personality.

I am honored that you are considering entrusting me to capture your special moments, and look forward to working with you.

All the best,
